Critically acclaimed International multi-disciplinary artist Amalie Atkins -[Saskatoon] work hop-scotches from filmmaking to fabric-based sculptural installations to performance, combining retro imagery and prairie settings in charming, intimate artworks. Aitkins mixed-media installation is arranged around a fantastical film about “[a] girl with a giant cake that travels to a place where all teeth ache.” Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and was selected to represent Canada at the largest Contemporary Canadian Art Exhibition in the world [Mass Moca USA] as well selected candidate for the Sobey Art Award Long List and recipient of numerous grants Canada Council /Saskatchewan Arts Board and Residencies. Aitkins has exhibited recently in New York and London UK and extensively throughout Canada.
