Time: 1:00PM

Listening in fact implies a preparedness to meet the unpredictable and unplanned, to

welcome the unwelcome. How do we reach such a state of listening, why would we want

to?”

-Hildegard Westerkamp “The Disruptive Nature of Listening”

Inspired by the World Soundscape Project, this walk focuses on listening intently to the environment with a presentation of a short audio essay at the end through interviews with 12 selected women artists. The 30 minute soundwalk around downtown PA begins and ends at Definitely Superior Art Gallery. During the walk participants will be guided to listen to the environment along a composed route. Afterwards, there will be an artist led 20 minute discussion in which the group could share thoughts about their listening experience.

The walk can be accessible, but if you’re in a wheelchair or have mobility issues please contact Zoe Gordon, 807-632-7522.
