Beneath The Reflection: Internationally known regional artist, Sam Shahsahabi, is a multidisciplinary artist, originally from Iran. His artistic oeuvre encompasses a range of practices including painting, public art, drawing, immersive sculptural/kinetic and mechanical installation, performance and interactive new media. Shahsahabi’s art explores  a number of issues related to identity, history and media. His new multi media works draw upon a fusion of social/political themes, contemporary art elements and the repeating geometric designs of traditional Islamic art. Shahsahabi’s works have been shown internationally, including the US, Canada, Iran, Germany, Turkey, Japan, Italy and Brazil. He is a graduate with an MFAfrom York University, has received numerous awards/grants from the Ontario Arts Council and has also been invited to many international residencies. Shahsahabi is currently an Assistant Professor of the Department of Visual Arts at Lakehead University. Show closes Nov 11.
