Club culturel francophone de Thunder Bay proudly presents a new exhibition of artist collective La francophonie dans tous ses états, “La frontière de la langue (The language border)”, which will take place from Friday, July 25th to Saturday, August 16th, 2025, at Definitely Superior Art Gallery.

Artist collective La francophonie dans tous ses états and Club culturel francophone de Thunder Bay have been working together since 2018 to shine a light on the diversity and vitality of the local art scene as it relates to the French language. Thanks to the continuous support of the Ministry of Canadian Heritage, the Ontario Arts Council, and the Government of Ontario, the eighth exhibition will feature artwork by 16 Francophone and francophile artists, addressing the space created by the French language, within the Francophonie and in relation to the many languages around us.

This exhibition aims at showing the universal challenge of the language barrier through the spectrum of the numerous varieties of French in our region, and at opening a conversation around the space created by and for the French language in the multicultural and multilingual city of Thunder Bay.

The exhibition will also feature artwork created by local Francophone and francophiles students during upcycling workshops organized with the financial support of microgrant programs Vice-Versa and ImmersART, and of Lakehead Public Schools.

Le Club culturel francophone de Thunder Bay est fier de présenter la huitième exposition du collectif La francophonie dans tous ses états, « La frontière de la langue », qui se tiendra du vendredi 25 juillet au samedi 16 août 2025 à la galerie d’arts Definitely Superior Art Gallery.

Le collectif enrichit la scène artistique locale aux côtés du Club culturel francophone de Thunder Bay depuis 2018, célébrant la richesse et la diversité de la communauté francophone et francophile de Thunder Bay. Pour cette huitième exposition, grâce au soutien essentiel et continu du ministère du Patrimoine canadien, du Conseil des arts de l’Ontario et du gouvernement de l’Ontario, 16 artistes du collectif explorent l’espace créé par la langue française, au sein de la francophonie et avec les langues qui nous entourent.

À travers la mosaïque des francophonies de notre région, ce projet d’exposition vise à repenser le défi universel de la barrière de la langue, et à susciter la réflexion et le dialogue sur la place de la langue française à Thunder Bay, une ville multiculturelle qui compte plusieurs dizaines de communautés linguistiques.

L’exposition comprend également des œuvres collectives d’upcycling créées par des élèves francophones et francophiles de la ville grâce au soutien financier des programmes de microsubvention Vice-Versa et ImmersART et du conseil scolaire Lakehead Public Schools.
