Internationally known visual artist, Ann Clarke’s presentation of an immersive installation of new contemporary abstract paintings which demonstrate an unwavering commitment to a personal style grounded in modernist abstraction. The focus of her current work is painting as painting, the picture plane, space and colour. Opaque and transparent images are layered, and reflections on the dichotomies of nature/nurture, sacred /profane, organic/manufactured, past/present, and wild/tame, are explored. Clarke has participated in over 30 solo exhibitions and over 90 group shows internationally. She is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Art and a Professor Emerita of the Department of Visual Arts, Lakehead University.
